Paramount Pictures is in negotiations to grab up a script written by Adam Cooper (Tower Heist) titled The General about George Washington. Darren Aronofsky is attached to produce and direct under his own Protozoa Pictures. Paramount has a first-look deal with Protozoa, and if they don’t close the deal in a few days you can bet other studios will start a bidding war. We’ve talked a lot about Aronofsky’s Noah this week, which is now casting, but it seems like The General could jump into production soon after the flood waters subside. Aronofsky’s also reportedly looking at the Judy Garland biopic Get Happy which has Anne Hathaway attached. The Aronofsky is hot shit right now after the award winning Black Swan took in a pretty $329 million worldwide. Plot details for The General are being kept under wraps for the moment. [Variety]
