Leonardo DiCaprio is lining up project after project and it doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. He’s set to star in Baz Luhrmann‘s The Great Gatsby and Quinten Tarantino‘s Django Unchained on December 25, 2012. He’s starring in Martin Scorsese‘s The Wolf of Wall Street which starts production in August. His production company, Appian Way, is developing the Matt Reeves directed The Twilight Zone, a live action remake of Akira, and Satori by author Don Winslow. Now we’re hearing that Warner Bros. has just acquired the rights to a yet to be published novel by Dennis Lehane titled Live by Night in which DiCaprio will star. Oh, and Appian Way is producing.
More after the break.
Deadline reports that Dennis Lehane’s next novel Live by Night is a follow-up to his earlier novel,The Given Day, which is a fictional drama set against historical events in the prohibition era before World War 1. If Dennis Lehane’s name sounds familiar it’s because he wrote the novels Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone, and Shutter Island, which was turned into a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Warner Bros. also owns the rights to the first novel The Given Day, and we hear that there will be a third book published in the series. We’re not sure if Warner Bros. is going to release them in order or not. Either way it will probably be a while before we see this come to light, Leo’s got a lot on his plate right now.
