The Fourth Realm Trilogy by John Twelve Hawks has been option by Warner Bros. who plan on starting right away on a film adaptation of the first book in the series, The Traveler.  The book is set in the near future and features a world where all power lies in the hands of a secret organization known as “the Tabula.” The Tabula believe in extreme control and stability and enforce a society where people are constantly watched and monitored. The sequel is titled The Dark River, and the final book in the trilogy is The Golden City.

More including a quote from the reclusive author after the jump!

The rights to The Fourth Realm Trilogy were acquired by 20th Century Fox in 2010 with Alex Tse (Watchmen) set to pen the script to The Traveler. I’m not sure what happened, but it seems that is no longer the case.  [Collider]

John Twelve Hawks himself crept out of his hole to make a comment over at Deadline:

“I’m so pleased that the trilogy is at Warner Bros, a studio whose history of otherworldly storytelling is so indelible and whose vision for the Fourth Realm Trilogy is so inspiring,”

J12H, or JX11H as his fans call him, supposedly lives completely off the grid, and John Twelve Hawks isn’t even his real name. His books are best sellers but everything about him is a mystery at this point. He only communicates by email or untraceable satellite calls with a voice scrambler.

Another Trilogy to add to my list…
